Sani Mamood
About Sani Mamood
Known for playing series-regular ‘Struthers’ Magnusson in Irvine Welsh’s Crime (ITV) and ‘Naz’ Mallick in Granite Harbour (BBC), and soon to be seen in an exciting new Netflix series; Sani Mamood is a Scottish actor of mixed South Asian heritage.
“As a South Asian artist, I crave working on stories that illuminate the lived South Asian experience. Growing up, it was rare to see people like me, telling the stories that showcased and connected us to the world — our success, our struggles, our wins and our losses. Kinaara accentuates the struggle between a son’s culturally inherited sense of duty and his intrinsic need to participate in his own life. In capturing this struggle through the lens of a South Asian protagonist, the script goes further to unite us in empathy whilst opening up a pathway to comprehending our collective humanness.”
This marks Sani’s second collaboration with writer and director Kal Sabir.
