About Mairi Morrison
Màiri Morrison is an actress, playwright and singer from the Isle of Lewis who “carries her Gaelic upbringing in her heart and her voice”.
Màiri graduated as an actor from the RCS in Glasgow and has since toured with productions, nationally and internationally, for over 25 years. Theatre credits include work with the National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Shakespeare Company, Lyceum Theatre, Traverse Theatre, Theatre gu Leòr and Òran Mòr. She was nominated for a CATS award in 2022.
Along with extensive voice-over experience, Màiri’s screen credits range from the long-standing TV dramas, ‘Bannan’ and ‘Shetland’ to the Netflix film,‘Outlaw King’.
Màiri was the recipient of the Gaelic New Playwrights Award in 2017, (Playwrights’ Studio Scotland), and her play, ‘Bana-Ghaisgich’ was selected to be published in, ‘A Century of Gaelic Drama’. Most recently she wrote & performed in a tri-lingual, site-responsive play, ‘Taigh/Ty/Teach’, a co-production with Theatre Gu Leòr, Theatr Bara Caws and Fishamble.
Màiri has performed, collaborated and recorded with many musicians over the last 30 years, appearing on numerous TV music programmes. She is due to release her first solo album in 2025 along with another collaborative album, recorded in Nova Scotia, with the renowned Scottish musician Alasdair Roberts.
