About Kal Sabir
Kal Sabir is a Scot-ish actor of South Asian heritage, known for roles in high profile films including Tehran and Gran Turismo. He is also a writer, producer and director primarily through his fledgling film production company, Restless Chimp.
In recent years, he has written, directed and or produced a slate of short films, including A Coincidental Engagement; official selection at the Apex Film Awards, Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival, and the London Lift-off Film Festival, as part of New Voices, showcasing shorts from new filmmakers in the industry.
In 2024, Kal was awarded a National Theatre of Scotland short film commission to make Kinaara (Edge). It tells the story of Adil, a carer to his elderly mother who has dementia. It gives a snapshot of the challenges faced by unpaid carers, especially in the South Asian community.
