About Johnny McKnight
Johnny is an award-winning writer, director, dramaturg, educator and performer. Previous directing credits for National Theatre of Scotland includes: Rapunzel.
Johnny was Co-Artistic Director of the accoladed theatre company Random Accomplice for fifteen years, touring work across Scotland, the UK and further afield including New York, Prague, Spain, Hong Kong and Singapore.
As a freelance director he has worked for many theatre companies including Dundee Rep, Perth Horsecross, A Play, A Pie and A Pint, Tron Theatre, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Macrobert JArts Centre and Scottish Opera. He has directed over eighteen pantomimes for Macrobert Arts Centre and Tron Theatre.
Recent writing commissions include 101 Dalmatians (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre); Rubble (Scottish Opera); No Love Songs (Dundee Rep) and Meet Me At The Knob (A Play, A Pie and A Pint). Johnny is developing a range of TV projects with Fable Pictures, FreeAtLast TV and Artis Pictures. Johnny is currently Associate Artist at National Theatre of Scotland.
