Hanna Mbuya is a London based tuba player, composer and arranger. As well as performing as a member of Mercury-nominated 10-piece seed., Chineke! Orchestra and Nu Civilisation, other collaborations have included artists & projects such as Anna Meredith, Jon Batiste, Soweto Kinch, Jason Moran’s Harlem Hellfighters, Lafawndah’s Fifth Season and Peter Wiegold’s Third Orchestra, in addition to appearances with horn sections alongside artists including Solange, Joy Anonymous and Arlo Parks. Work in theatre includes I, Joan (2022), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2023), Richard III (2024) & Hansel and Gretel (2024) at Shakespeare’s Globe. Hanna studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and the Royal College of Music.
