About Carys Hobbs
Carys trained in design at QMU, Edinburgh. Her most recent designs include Cats (2022 Best Production winner); Medea (Bard in the Botanics); Moorcroft (Tron Theatre); Walking Tall Tales (Tron Theatre Education); The Dutch Courtesan (RCS) and Snow White (The Byre) in 2022.
Prior to 2020 her credits include Bingo! (Stellar Quines and Grid Iron); Coriolanus Vanishes (with Fire Exit); Last Tango in Partick (NTS); CRUDE (with Grid Iron and GlasGlow for Itison). For Tron Theatre she has also designed, Shall Roger Casement Hang? Colquhoun and Macbryde, Happy Days and The Brothers Karamazov.
Carys has been the Head of Design for Bard in the Botanics since 2014 with designs including 2022’s Much Ado About Nothing, Antony and Cleopatra, Measure for Measure, The Taming of the Shrew, Coriolanus, Dr Faustus, Romeo and Juliet and The Merchant of Venice. Carys also leads the placement scheme for costumiers still in training to get professional training carthroughout the year with Bard in the Botanics.
