Althea Young (she/they) is a Glasgow based artist, working between live performance, creative technology, community practice, and writing. She graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with the Avrom Greenbaum Player’s Award for Direction before going on to attend the Scotland+Venice Professional Development Programme. Their work is lyrical, funny and otherworldly, often utilising the POV of non-human beings to shed light on the human condition. She has been a regular collaborator with company 21 Common, was the 2023 Surge/Manipulate associate artist, the 2022 Present Futures Associate Artist, and is current lead artist at Cumbernauld Theatre’s Secondary drama programmes. 

Her work which featured at Manipulate Festival 2024 ‘...fairly explode[s] with energy and invention in navigating the new world of robotics and artificial intelligence; and offering the prospect of a wave of human creativity not crushed by these new technologies, but moved by them to reach new heights.’ -The Scotsman
