Rupture

September - October 2007

Overview

Rupture is a 21st century thriller that takes a scalpel to the shiny surface of city life.

Six characters collide in the twilight urban underworld of post-Blair Britain as they watch, manipulate, fall in love and double-cross each other.

Dark and funny, Rupture exposes the links between private security and personal trauma, migrant workers and lonely consumers, strange desires and societal secrets.

The cast for Rupture features Agnieszka Bresler, Brian Ferguson, Molly Innes, Neil McKinven, Gabriel Quigley and Owen Whitelaw.

Rupture is the National Theatre of Scotland’s second Workshop production of 2007, following Venus as a Boy at the Traverse during the Festival. Acting as a laboratory within the New Work Department, the National Theatre of Scotland Workshop exists as the innovative heart of the company, generating and resourcing the development of new projects by Scotland’s most exciting emergent talent.

Davey Anderson is currently Director in Residence at the National Theatre of Scotland. His recent work for the National Theatre of Scotland includes Black Watch (Associate Director, Music), Home:Glasgow (Associate Director) and Falling (Dramaturg, in co-production with Poorboy). As the winner of the Arches Award for Stage Directors in 2005, Davey wrote and directed Snuff, which was part of the Traverse Theatre’s 2005 Festival programme and later toured the UK.
