Overview
EXTREME is a major project from The National Theatre of Scotland and Aberdeen City Council that involves sport, theatre, dance, music and art.
Sparked by the rush of high energy sports, EXTREME is a series of exhilarating events springing up and taking flight in Aberdeen from August 2010 to March 2011.
This adrenaline-fuelled mix of worlds will launch participants and audience members on an unforgettable journey culminating in a major theatre production in Aberdeen city in March 2011.
EXTREME is led by Aberdeen City Council’s Arts Education Team and a team of professional theatre artists from the National Theatre of Scotland including Simon Sharkey and Graham McLaren as Directors, Phil McCormack as Assistant Director, Chris Grant as Parkour Artist and Dave Martin as Digital Music Composer.
Three artists specialising in dance, movement and visual art are also on board the project as Creative Catalysts, their roles to work creatively on the project with three Aberdeen schools. Will Thorburn, Claire Reid and Craig Barrowman will be working on EXTREME with students from Bridge of Don Academy, Kingsford Primary School, St Joseph’s RC Primary School, and Aberdeen College all based in Aberdeen city.
EXTREME is led by Aberdeen City Council’s Arts Education Team in partnership with the National Theatre Scotland and Transition Extreme Sports Ltd.
EXTREME is an Inspire project supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland, with additional support from Shell and the Scottish Government.
Architecture and Design Scotland will also be involved with EXTREME.
