Exchange 2008

June - July 2008

Overview

Now in its third year, the National Theatre of Scotland’s vibrant Exchange Festival brings together youth theatres from across Scotland with a team of professional theatre artists.

Our Learn team provides the opportunity for enthusiastic young theatre-makers (aged 16 to 25 years old) to create and perform new and exciting pieces of theatre.

The young people are encouraged and supported in exploring new ideas and in taking creative risks with their theatre creations.

The week-long Festival also offers participants the opportunity to take part in a number of practical and fun workshops led by skilled theatre practitioners. These workshops include physical comedy, creative movement, horror stage make-up, stand-up comedy, theatre design, lighting, playwriting, site-specific theatre, music, stage combat, working with text and ensemble movement.

The workshops support the exchange of ideas and experience so that participants will leave the Festival with new skills and confidence. The programme culminates in a high profile week-long festival of the young people’s work.
