Architecting (2008)

August 2008

Overview

Architecting is an exhilirating American saga that weaves through America’s past and future to create a requiem for modern America, a musical, multi-media time-bending epic peopled with Scarlett O’Hara pageant contests and anarchistic architects.

It rockets from the American Civil War and the subsequent Reconstruction to a desolate bar in post-Katrina New Orleans where literary legend Margaret Mitchell and presidential grandchild historian Henry Adams watch the country change under their feet.

The TEAM is a New York based theatre company dedicated to dissecting and celebrating the experience of living in America today. In 2005, the TEAM premiered at the Fringe with A Thousand Natural Shocks and Give Up! Start Over (In the darkest of times I look to Richard Noxon for hope), winner of a Fringe First.

The TEAM returned in 2006 with Particularly in the Heartland, which sold out at the Traverse Theatre and garnered the TEAM another Fringe First Award.

Architecting is the first co-production between The TEAM and the National Theatre of Scotland Workshop. Previous Workshop productions include last year’s Festival Fringe hit and Herald Angel winner, Venus as a Boy.

WINNER Scotsman Fringe First and Total Theatre Award for Best Young Company 2008.
