We were delighted to co-host a special performance of June Carter Cash, The Woman, Her Music and Me, alongside co-producers Grid Iron and Parents in the Performing Arts (PIPA) on Sunday 11 August.
We are proud to have been strategic partners with PIPA, since 2016, and to have been one of the one of the first Scotland-based companies to bring PiPA best practices to Scotland, to support the Scottish parent and carer arts workforce, with Grid Iron being a chartered partner too.
Charlene Boyd’s award-winning, (A Scotsman Fringe First), acclaimed production of June Carter Cash: The Woman, Her Music and Me directed by Cora Bissett, explores the connections between June’s story and her own life as a working-class actress and singer bringing up two children, making it the perfect vehicle to highlight and celebrate the work of this important organisation.
Cassie Raine - Co-CEO & Executive Director said
‘It is thanks to PiPA Partners National Theatre Scotland and Grid Iron Theatre Company’s unwavering support and willingness to explore new ways of working that creatives are able to care for loved ones and continue working.
Charlene Boyd is a tour de force and her show is testament to why we must pull out all the stops to make sure parents and carers in our industry can continue working.’
