National Theatre of Scotland today announced a programme of events and projects specially created for COP26, amplifying artistic voices calling for a more sustainable future and celebrating its commitment to addressing climate change.

• Over 100 primary school children to accompany Little Amal on her journey through Glasgow to COP26 as a colourful climax to schools’ climate and migrant justice arts project. A National Theatre of Scotland, Citizens Theatre and Perth Theatre collaboration in association with Good Chance Theatre and The Walk - 10 November

• New online arts project www.millipede.shop exploring climate change through art, science and digital technology by Shona Reppe and Andy Manley, created by National Theatre of Scotland in partnership with ThinkArts (Kolkata), a British Council Creative Commission - now open for browsing

• DEAR PLANET takeover, sharing ecologically urgent video content from artivists and changemakers across National Theatre of Scotland’s digital channels - 10 November with programme details announced soon

• National Theatre of Scotland published its Green Plan earlier this year and committed to the Theatre Green Book, which sets a common standard for a sustainable production process

“The National Theatre of Scotland is based in Glasgow and we are proud to see this vibrant city respond creatively and passionately to the urgent global climate talks as part of COP26.

We felt it was vital for the National Theatre of Scotland to contribute to the energetic voices calling for climate and migrant justice alongside our many valued COP26 partners including ThinkArts, Good Chance, The Walk, the Citizens Theatre and Perth Theatre.

We particularly wanted to encourage youth activism and celebrate the contribution of young people and children who, not only will be most affected by the impact of the climate emergency, but also have the real power to affect change. We hope our artistic projects; Millipede - the shoe shop that doesn’t cost the earthonline, Little Amal - We are Mighty on the Clydeside, and our channel takeover, Dear Planet will add to the growing chorus of those demanding a sustainable and more equitable future for all”
