My Left Right Foot The Musical, the riotous hit collaboration between Birds of Paradise and National Theatre of Scotland, will kick off its 2019 tour with a visit to a prestigious international theatre festival in Japan. The show will then visit the Brighton Festival before a week-long engagement at Dundee Rep Theatre this May.

In Japan the show will perform at the Shizuoka Performing Arts Centre as part of the World Theatre Festival programme. It marks the first time the company has presented work in Japan since a special tour of Macbeth in 2015, which saw Japanese stage star Kuranosuke Sasaki take on Alan Cumming’s title role.

My Left Right Foot The Musical also marks a return to the Brighton Festival for the Company; Adam toured to the festival in 2018, following its critically-acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut, while previous productions Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour (2016), The Beautiful Cosmos of Ivor Cutler (2015), and The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart (2012) have all enjoyed successful visits to the city.

Telling the story of a small-town am-dram group’s outrageous attempt to win a local drama award, My Left Right Foot: The Musical was a smash hit on its debut at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, winning critical acclaim and awards recognition, as well as the delight of audiences across its sell-out run.

The 2019 tour will feature a new cast in an expanded version of the play, including brand-new music from Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer: The Opera) and Director Robert Softley Gale.
