Eve, Jo Clifford’s heart-breaking autobiographical show from the National Theatre of Scotland, is hitting the road this month for two special performances. The show, a critical and audience hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, will visit the Nairn Book & Arts Festival for a performance on 15^th September before jetting off to Brazil for two special performances the following week.

Presented by Festival Internacional de Teatro, Palco & Rua de Belo Horizonte, the production will perform at the Teatro Marília in Belo Horizonte, one of the country’s largest cities, on the 20^th and 21^st September. This will be the play’s first international engagement. It will also mark a return to the city and festival for Jo Clifford, whose widely acclaimed The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven was first performed there in 2016.

Ahead of the show opening Jo Clifford said: “I loved being in Belo Horizonte for FIT the last time and am very proud and excited and happy to return. It is an honour to be invited back. And it is extraordinary to be back in Brazil at such a crucial time in the country’s history.”

Following its premiere at the Traverse in 2017, Eve struck a chord with audiences for its unflinchingly honest portrayal of Clifford’s life experiences and the discrimination she has often faced. A deeply personal piece that speaks generously to, and for, a much wider community, the show is performed with warmth and humour, passion and anger. It has since been performed at Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre and at Dundee Rep Theatre.
