The first opportunities around Scotland’s The Coming Back Out Ball, a spectacular upcoming event for LGBTI+ elders have been revealed today, with two introductory events set to take place in Glasgow and Inverness in May 2019.

The Coming Back Out Ball is presented by the National Theatre of Scotland and Australian participatory company All The Queens Men, in partnership with Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing organisation, and Eden Court Theatre Inverness and in association with Glasgow City Council.

The LGBTI+ Elders Social Dance Clubs will be fabulous, free events for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Gender Diverse, and Intersex elders and allies to get a taste of plans for the final The Coming Back Out Ball. Presented as part of Luminate Festival, these events will also provide a space for people to share stories, memories, hopes and passions, and of course, dance moves. No prior dance experience is required, just curiosity.

The Glasgow Dance Club events will be led by creative practitioners Emma Jayne Park, Fraser MacLeod, and Chris Wilson, while the Inverness clubs will be led by Amy Watt and Lou Brodie.

Participants will be invited to join at either of the free sessions below, and are free to turn up without advance booking.

Led by Lewis Hetherington from National Theatre of Scotland, and Tristan Meecham and Bec Reid from All The Queens Men, this will be the first time The Coming Back Out Ball has been presented outside of Australia. Taking place in Glasgow in Spring 2020, the event promises to be a night of cultural significance in which the broader community can sit alongside LGBTI+ elders to eat, drink, dance, reminisce and dream together into the future.
