Text and Movement Workshop

Rockvilla

Overview

We are delighted to announce that we will be offering free text and movement workshops for professional actors looking to enhance and develop their skills.

We will be hosting two workshops with actor, writer and mover, Nat McCleary.

Nat will lead a series of exercises which will allow participants to experiment in listening to the body’s impulses. These exercises will allow participants the chance to play around with text to identify the natural “voice” of their own physicality and learn how to allow it to consciously contribute to performance with text.

Participants will be asked to prepare a short piece of text of their choosing to work with in the workshop. You do not need to have any prior experience in movement-based work to attend these workshops.

The workshops will be held on Sat 27 July.

Workshop One: 10am – 1pm

Workshop Two: 2pm – 5pm

Access: If you require a BSL interpreter or have any other access requirements or questions, please contact robyn.ferguson@nationaltheatrescotland.com

Travel expenses: For those travelling more than 25 miles out with Glasgow to attend the workshop we can cover up to 25% of your travel. For more information on the workshop attendance subsidy, please contact Robyn Ferguson at the email address above.

Participants must fit the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Be an actor based in Scotland
  • Have not worked with National Theatre of Scotland before or have not worked with us in the last five years.
  • Have at least one professional acting credit.

There will be 18 places available for each workshop. These places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with priority given to some applicants to ensure the diversity of the Scottish acting community is fully represented.

When booking your place, you will be asked to select which workshop you wish to attend. Please only select one option.
